Set-up

We will attend your site and set-up the required software and scripts on your server, test the backup, take an initial snapshot of the data and train your users to retrieve files.

Backup

Making use of best of breed unix tools, the daily backup is totally automated and made over the Internet using your broadband connection. A secure connection is established to our servers and anything that has changed since the last backup is copied across.

Snapshots

Working very much like Apple’s Time Machine, BackupMyMac keeps a snapshot of your data day by day. Daily snapshots are kept for a week and weekly snapshots for a month (space permitting – source data allowance x 1.5).

Restore

Your backup snapshots are available over the web, either in your web browser or you can connect directly from the finder (using webdav). Both of these are secure, encrypted using SSL. This sort of access to your data is particularly useful if a file or folder is corrupted or has been accidentally deleted.

Disaster

Should the worst happen and all your data is lost (theft, fire, technological catastrophe) we will have an engineer to your site as quickly as possible (but within 8 hours*), armed with a copy of your data on hard disk. We understand how important it is for your to minimise non-working time and we’ll be there until you’re back up and running. If you choose to not make use of our disaster recovery service we can also send you your data on an external drive for next day delivery.

* This is only guaranteed when the travelling time from Birmingham to the customer is under 4 hours.
